• If I only want to use the three thread do I have to take the second needle out

• Hello, Are the presser feet snap on? And does the plate need to be changed for roll hemming?

  • All the presser feet are snap-on. Keep the needle plate on as usual. For rolled hemming, remove the left-hand side needle, replace the stitch bite finger with the narrow one included in the accessories, and reduce the stitch length to approximately number 1.

    The four-thread stitch gives a strong seam, while the three-thread stitch is ideal for rolled hems and narrow overlock stitches. The two-thread stitch is not as strong but can be used for rolled hemming, and it may break on some stretchy fabrics. Customers mostly use the three and four-thread stitches, with the two-thread stitch being used less often.

     

    The Jaguar 489 offers two, three, and four-thread overlocking and includes a thread trimmer to cut threads at the end of overlocking. 

     

    On the other hand, the Jaguar 488 offers three and four-thread overlocking but does not include a thread trimmer.
