    School pinafore

    By Jackie Stott

I made several of these for a friends very small 4 year old daughter who has just started school I had to draft a pattern as I didn’t have any that had a 20” chest. I used ponte roma fabric and lined it with thin jersey. It was my first time using the coverstitch machine so it was a learning curve, I used the single needle chain stitch for all the seams including understitching round the neck and armholes. Doing the hem with two needle coverstitch was so easy compared to using a traditional machine. I wish I’d bought this machine far sooner as it does so much more than hems. My friend and her daughter are very happy with the pinafore and I’m happy that the coverstitch machine gives such a professional finish.
