A really good one to start off with here for anyone contemplating making, rather than buying, their own wedding gown.

These 10 hot tips are brilliant for anyone in the early stages of planning and include such things as giving yourself plenty of time, setting a budget, and knowing your limits.

We particularly like: “It’s very important to make at least one muslin (or toile) mock-up of your wedding gown.  You will not only be able to get the fit and the length right, but you can also practice any new skills that you may be encountering.” 


Bridal and sewing and craft projects

This will be really useful in helping to avoid wedding dress dilemmas, and is aimed at first timers and more experienced sewists alike.

This super step-by-stepper was assembled by Meg Keene on the A Practical Wedding website.

It’s you really useful ten part guide to the process which will take you right through from step one – picking your pattern – to all the finishing considerations covered in step 10.

Pay particular attention to: step five which deals with all the alterations that are the most challenging part of the project.
