Church pantomime is a huge hit – and it’s easy to see why!
It was all hands to the sewing machines for a church pantomime in Scotland, with an amazing array of costumes being required for the production.
Lesley Langlands from Annan was tasked with making them. She kindly got in touch to tell all about her project, her sewing machine and to provide a few tips along the way.
“I spent the a few weeks making costumes for our church pantomime ‘Mercy Buckets in Noah’s Park’.
“I used my Janome Memory Craft 4300 QDC sewing machine for the project.
“The green fabric in the Tyrollean outfit was an up-cycled table cloth and the broderie anglaise trim was made from an old valance. The ghostbusters outfit was made from a pair of curtains from a charity shop as were the two vultures’ costumes. The owl and the fairy costumes were all new materials.
“There is six metres of net in the fairy skirt which I gathered quickly and easily with a ruffler foot. I covered a cheap pair of tennis shoes with matching fabric using Mod Podge.
“Our pantomime ran for three nights and we raised almost £3,500!”
